A new home for our Buzludzha tours 🛸

Hi travel enthusiasts 👋

If you've been curious about Bulgaria's famous UFO-shaped communist monument, we have some exciting news.

We just relaunched buzludzha-tour.com: a dedicated website for our tours to the Buzludzha Monument, with a refreshed design and all the information you need to plan your visit, including the monument's history, the Buzludzha Project, etc.

🛸 Why visit Buzludzha?

Perched on a mountain peak in Bulgaria's Balkan range, the Buzludzha Monument is one of Eastern Europe's most striking and unusual sights. Built by Bulgaria's Communist Party and opened in 1981, it features a 70-metre tower and a flying saucer-shaped hall once covered in nearly 1,000 square metres of socialist mosaics.

It's dramatic, eerie, and completely unlike anything else you'll see. No wonder it's become one of Bulgaria's most-photographed landmarks.

Note: the entry is currently unavailable due to ongoing conservation work, but the monument is spectacular from the outside, especially against mountain skies.

🚗 Tour options

We can organize private day trips to Buzludzha year-round from most major cities in Bulgaria, but mainly from these two starting points:

From Sofia: a full day out (around 9 hours), including a visit to the Thracian Tomb of Golyama Kosmatka in Kazanlak.

From Plovdiv: a private full-day trip from Bulgaria's cultural capital.

Both tours include a knowledgeable local guide, comfortable transport, and a flexible itinerary you can customise with add-ons.

What our travelers say

Really cool experience – nice guide and everything was on point. I have been to Buzludzha probably 8 years ago and revisiting was really interesting. This place is the most impressive one in Bulgaria in my opinion so I definitely recommend visiting it. Our guide was also very knowledgeable and fun to be around!
