A 7,500-Year-Old Secret in Bulgaria ✨

Hi travel enthusiasts 👋

Our team at Private Guide Bulgaria just returned from one of the most astonishing places we’ve ever visited, and we couldn’t wait to tell you about it!

📍 Provadia–Solnitsata, located just 50 km from Varna, Bulgaria, is officially the oldest prehistoric town in Europe. But here’s the mind-blowing part:

👉 It is over 2,000 years older than the Egyptian pyramids.

Walking through this ancient settlement felt like stepping into another world. We stood inside Europe’s oldest stone fortifications, saw the remains of the continent’s earliest salt-production center, and learned how this tiny community became a thriving proto-city thanks to their “white gold.”

Salt wasn’t just seasoning back then. Salt was power, survival, and even currency.

What surprised us most was the sheer scale of the place:

  • Massive defensive walls;

  • Deep brine-boiling pits;

  • Ritual areas;

  • A settlement mound layered with nearly two millennia of history.

It’s one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Balkans, yet still wonderfully peaceful and uncrowded.

And now…

✨ We’re adding Provadia–Solnitsata to our tour itineraries.
If you love history, archaeology, or off-the-beaten-path discoveries, this place is a must-see.
